Mission

At Canine Community Outreach of North Carolina, we’re closing the gap between affordable canine care and our community. By educating owners about and enabling proper medical care, we improve canine lives. We connect individuals in need with low-cost canine medical care, with a focus on spay and neuter, and also support medical fundraising for rescue dogs in need.

We are 100% volunteer-run. Money raised goes to supporting spay & neuter initiatives, vaccines and other necessary medical procedures for dogs in our area.

History

The co-founders, friends who connected over their love of dogs, began Canine Community Outreach of North Carolina in 2019 to support dogs in the Triangle.

Who We Are

Colleen Bouchard

Colleen Bouchard
colleen@helpncdogs.org

Colleen has had a life-long passion for helping dogs. After obtaining her BS in Animal Science at NCSU in 1996, Colleen began a career as a dog groomer in 1999. She organized supply drives for SPCA of Wake County, later turning that effort into raising money and creating a team for their annual K-9 Dog Walk. Her team was in the Top 10 several years in a row. This passion for fundraising for animal welfare led Colleen to volunteer and foster for several area rescues. She has fostered 61 dogs since March 2017. While she still fosters for various rescues, her true passion is to reduce the pet overpopulation problem one dog at a time. Colleen and her husband Keith foster failed on each of their current dogs Macy-Jane and Petunia-Blue.
Kate Runy

Kate Runy

From childhood, Kate has been obsessed with dogs and petting as many as she can. She can be often found at social gatherings befriending dogs. She is a lifelong North Carolinian and graduated from Meredith College with a BA in English. Kate started as a volunteer with dog rescues after adopting her beloved dog Hanzo and that volunteering led her to meet Colleen, leading to the founding of Canine Community Outreach of NC. Using her experience working in a variety of nonprofits and background in communications, she's putting her skills to work in helping to spread the word that spaying and neutering saves lives.
