Trixie is an 11-pound dachshund whose human mom suddenly passed away. Trixie found herself in a less-than-ideal situation with a family member, where she spent most of her days in a crate not much bigger than her body. A rescuer was given permission to re-home Trixie.

Though she was overall relatively healthy and heart worm negative, Trixie's first EVER vet visit revealed a substantial mammary tumor and urgent need for both the removal of the tumor and a spay surgery with blood work and x-rays - procedures totaling over $1,250. Trixie's rescuer raised $950 by asking everyone she knew for donations. Canine Community Outreach of NC covered the remaining $302.51 balance.
